Strategic Partnership to deliver state-of-the-art facilities to Wexford Business Community
Wexford, 8th June, 2015 – The Wexford Business Awards took place on Friday 5th June 2015 in Whites of Wexford. The event was attended by special guest Minister Brendan Howlin, Caoirthleach Wexford Council Malcolm Byrne, Mayor of Wexford George Lawlorand Tom Enright, Chief Executive at Wexford County Council.
During the awards, Martin Doyle, President of Wexford Chamber announced the Chamber is embarking on a landmark project with Wexford County Council and Wexford-based ICT solutions and services provider Datapac. The project will see the Chamber’s offices completely revitalised and redeveloped to incorporate the latest technology and communications infrastructure.
Over the past number of years, Wexford Chamber has grown exponentially to become one of the most active and successful Chamber of Commerce in Ireland. Staff numbers, levels of business-to-business meetings, the number of events held, and the range of services offered to its members have all increased in line with this growth.
The rejuvenated offices will serve as a meeting area where Chamber staff and members can work collaboratively to develop and grow the local Wexford economy. A major part of this renovation will be the installation of a new Boardroom and Training Facility, which will be named the Datapac Business Resource Centre.
Speaking about the project, Martin Doyle, President of Wexford Chamber said: “We wanted an environment that was welcoming and open to our members and comfortable and collaborative for our meetings. We wanted the best for the future home of the Chamber. Our current location in Dr Furlong’s on Hill Street, home for the past two years, is somewhere that we did not want to give up.
“It has all the attributes a Chamber building needs – accessibility, strategic alignment and visibility. However, it is a very old building in need of some serious repair. The new space will be welcoming, bright, open, collaborative, spacious and innovative.”
Tom Enright, Chief Executive of Wexford County Council, added: “Wexford County Council is delighted to support the development of quality office space for the Wexford Chamber, which reflects the standard of services the Chamber provides to the business community in Wexford.”
“It is evident that Wexford Chamber is held in high esteem and the support they have received so far highlights this. It is very well deserved and I have no doubt that the entire business community in Wexford will reap the benefits of this prestigious building for years to come.”
Karen O’Connor, general manager service delivery, Datapac, has been involved with the project from the beginning. Headquartered in Enniscorthy, Datapac is Ireland’s leading ICT solutions provider and has been at the forefront of technology innovation for more than three decades.
“Datapac is delighted to play a catalyst role in supporting the transformation of the facilities for Wexford Chamber and its members, many of whom are long-standing Datapac customers,” said Karen. “It was a fantastic opportunity for us to give something back to the business community in Wexford where we began, and to support a chamber that is proactive and progressive and of which we have been members for many years.”
Madeleine Quirke, CEO, Wexford Chamber, who has guided the Chamber through some difficult years, added: “I am delighted to be involved at this juncture in a project that will ensure further development and greater success. The addition of the Datapac Resource Centre will enable Wexford Chamber to offer state-of-the-art services to its Members in terms of telephone services, video conferencing, wireless connectivity, print services and collaborative working.
“As we celebrate our legacy in Wexford we are proud to partner with an organisation with its own exemplar legacy of employment and business development in the county,” she concluded.

“The value of dealing with an HP Gold partner in this process can’t be underestimated. Datapac provide us with a local touch and can cover the full range of our IT requirements, but when there is a specific technical requirement like this, they can bring the specialist technical resources of HP to the table. HP and Datapac had a thorough discussion with us around our requirement - and had really done their homework - and then were able to provide us with a very highly specified test platform for us to prove the application on before we committed to purchase.”
